American Economic Review

『The American Economic Review』（アメリカン・エコノミック・レビュー、略称: AER）は、アメリカ経済学会（略称: AEA）によって1911年から刊行されている、経済学に関する月刊の学術雑誌である。経済学において最も高名なジャーナルの一つとみなされている。

現在の編集長（editor-in-chief）は Pinelopi Koujianou Goldberg （イェール大学）。拠点をペンシルベニア州ピッツバーグに置く。

5月号は“Papers and Proceedings”として知られており、アメリカ経済学会の年次大会で発表された論文の中から選ばれた論文が、委員会のレポートなどとともに掲載される。

2004年からは、論文の結果を再現するのに要するデータとプログラムのソースコードの公開も要求されるようになり、それらはジャーナルのウェブサイトに掲載されることとなった（一部例外あり）。

ジャーナルはJSTORからオンラインでアクセスすることができる。2006年と2007年には、JSTORの収録する全775誌の中で最も閲覧された。

特筆すべき論文

2011年、ケネス・アロー、Douglas Bernheim、マーティン・フェルドシュタイン、ダニエル・マクファデン、James M. Poterba、ロバート・ソローによって構成された“Top 20 Committee”は、以下にあげる20本の論文をこれまでにAERに掲載された中で最も重要な論文として選んだ。これら論文の著者のうち13人はノーベル経済学賞を受賞している。
